NEW DELHI: Despite the ICJ decision, Israel carried out attacks on the Gaza Strip on Saturday night, targeting Rafah and the northern city of Deir al-Balah.
Israeli witnesses and AFP groups reported the attacks, which have left some displaced people hoping for an end to the conflict.
The ICJ has ordered Israel to help UN-mandated authorities “unimpeded entry” to Gaza to check the murder complaints and to provide humanitarian assistance through the Rafah cross.
The International Court of Justice ( ICJ) also directed Israel to immediately begin its military offensive in Rafah in response to a case brought by South Africa alleging that the Israeli operation portions to “genocide”. The judge also demanded the immediate release of victims also held by Hamas and instructed Israel to preserve the Rafah crossing between Egypt and Gaza available. But, Israel has indicated that it will not cooperate with the decision, insisting that the judge’s decision was’incorrect’.
However, Egypt announced on Friday that it has reached an agreement to help United Nations humanitarian aid vehicles to pass through Israel’s key crossing place into Gaza.
Furthermore, the Israeli military reported on Friday that the body of three more victims, who were killed on October 7, were recovered during the night from Gaza. Concurrently, the chairman of the CIA held meetings in Paris with representatives from Israel and Qatar, in an effort to resume talks aimed at achieving a cease-fire and securing the release of hostages.
The Gaza conflict began after Hamas’s assault on October 7, which resulted in the deaths of more than 1,170 people, mostly civilians, and the catch of 252 victims, 121 of whom remain in Gaza. Israel’s hostile offensive has killed at least 35,857 citizens in Gaza, mostly women and children, according to statistics from the Hamas-run state’s health department.
International force on Israel has been mounting, with many countries planning to fully understand a Palestinian state and the International Criminal Court attorney requesting arrest warrants for Jewish and Hamas leaders on fear of war crimes and crimes against humanity.
Diplomatic efforts to secure a ceasefire are underway in Paris, with the involvement of the CIA, French President Emmanuel Macron, and top diplomats from the US, Egypt, Qatar, Saudi Arabia, and Jordan. The security and humanitarian situation in Gaza remains dire, with a risk of famine and most hospitals no longer functioning. UN humanitarian chief Martin Griffiths has called for the release of hostages, a ceasefire agreement, and an end to the “nightmare” in Gaza.
