
LAHORE: A rabble led by extreme Jihadists on Saturday unleashed an assault on Christians in Pakistan Punjab state over the claims of destruction of the Quran that left at least two people from the majority group injured, one of them severely, police said.
The incident took place in Mujahid Colony Sargodha city of Punjab, 200km from Lahore, in the morning. Some video clips of the crowd assault on properties of Christian community people are doing rounds on social media.
The mob led by radical Tehreek-e-Labbaik Pakistan ( TLP ) activists attacked Christian community members, burning and ransacking their property. According to older Lahore police officer Asad Ejaz Malhi, a large contingent of officers has reached Mujahid Colony and dispersed the crowd which had surrounded some buildings ( of Christians ) over the claims of destruction of the Quran.
He said one wounded man has been shifted to a doctor and officers have been deployed it to maintain law and order.
