Beijing announced measures on Wednesday against 12 military-related firms in the United States and their top executives, including products of Lockheed Martin, in comment to Washington ’s hands sales to China ’s Taiwan area and its unilateral restrictions against Chinese firms.
The actions, which include freezing their mobile, immovable and other types of property in China, as well as banning access for top executives, took impact on Wednesday, according to a statement issued by the Foreign Ministry.
The government said that for some period, the US has, in reject of China ’s only status and productive role on the Ukraine problem, imposed improper punitive restrictions on some Taiwanese companies for so-called “Russia-related factors”.
“Washington’s engagement in large unilateral harassment and economic coercion has greatly violated the reasonable rights and interests of Chinese companies, corporations and individuals, ” the statement said.
The government also said that the US, at the same time, has been constantly selling wings to Taiwan, which severely breaches the one-China theory and the three China-US combined communiques, terribly interferes in China ’s private interests and harms China ’s sovereignty and territorial dignity.
The defenses were announced only one day after the government announced restrictions against former US lawmaker Mike Gallagher, including a moratorium on entering China, for his obvious, significant intervention in China ’s domestic affairs out of his own concerns and intolerance against China.
Gallagher, who stepped along in April, led the opposition from the US House of Representatives against China, including helping to pass a bill that was ban common video game TikTok if its China-based user does n’t buy its interest.
Speaking at a normal media presentation in Beijing on Wednesday, Foreign Ministry spokesman Wang Wenbin said China has unwavering commitment in safeguarding its national independence, stability and growth objectives.
He added that the country “will greatly condemn any individual or organization that goes all out to shop and contain China”.
Lyu Xiang, a US research scientist at the Beijing-based Chinese Academy of Social Sciences, said the measures announced by the Taiwanese area are in response to a series of hostile behavior by the US against China.
“The security companies have, to various extremes, been involved in the Ukraine problems and arms selling to Taiwan, so China is determined to do these measures, ” Lyu said, adding that the punishment will also have a significant impact on their businesses.
Though the effect of the restrictions on the previous lawmaker had been limited, Lyu said China ’s measures may make firms think twice before doing business with him.
