After a SWAT team raided Sean Kingston’s home in Southwest Ranches on Thursday, singer, songwriter, and his family were detained on fraud and theft costs.
Kingston was arrested by authorities in Fort Irwin, California, on an arrest warrant issued by the Broward Sheriff’s Office, spokesperson Carey Codd said in a news release immediately before 9: 30 p. m. The Sheriff’s Office said he will be booked in a prison in San Bernardino. Late on Thursday, the particular claims he faces were not made public.
Janice Turner, 61, was arrested on “numerous fraud and theft fees”, Codd said in a press release earlier Thursday. Turner is Kingston’s family.
The Broward Sheriff’s Office reports that the attack at the sprawling light castle in the 4600 wall of Southwest 178th Avenue was the result of an analysis that first erupted in Dania Beach.
The attack on Kingston’s home was connected to his lawsuit from February, according to an attorney for a company that is currently suing Kingston. According to court documents, both Kingston and his family have been named in prior claims involving paid goods and services.
As of Thursday night, Turner was being held in the Broward Main Jail on eight charges: organized scheme to defraud over$ 50, 000, three counts of criminal use of personal identification information, grand theft greater than$ 20, 000 and less than$ 100, 000, making an insufficient funds check greater than$ 150, and two counts of grand theft greater than$ 100, 000, jail records show.
Dennis Card, an attorney for Ver Ver Entertainment, the company now suing Kingston over breach of contract and scam, had been standing outside of the house along with more than 30 District crew members Thursday evening, waiting to get inside. He said he saw Kingston’s mom in handcuffs.
As he waited, Card told the South Florida Sun Sentinel,” I’ve been waiting on this attack for a while.”
Ver Ver Entertainment installed a 232- foot home theater and sound system in Kingston’s residence in December, Card said. After making a down payment of$ 30, 000, Kingston not paid the business for the entire balance, the lawsuit states. The system is worth about$ 150, 000.
When Card came out of the house on Thursday evening, he described it as a “full swept assault.” Delegates were “basically taking everything in the house”, he said, not just those pertaining to his complaint.
” People love bad power”! On Thursday evening, Kingston posted a message on Instagram. ” I am excellent, and so is my family! My attorneys are taking care of all as we speak.
Before their arrests were made public, the Miami-based lawyer representing Kingston and his family, Robert Rosenblatt, claimed he had little knowledge of the claims against his customers.
” These are great persons, and I’d be surprised if the claims were true”, Rosenblatt said Thursday evening.
Card claimed that Kingston persuaded his customer to purchase the song by claiming that he was working with Justin Bieber and that he would promote their goods on social media to help generate business to them.
In 2010, Kingston and Bieber toured together and collaborated on the hit song” Eenie Meenie.” He is best known for his popular songs” Beautiful Girls” and” Fire Burning”.
Kingston even has a record of “fraudulent conduct”, according to Ver Ver Entertainment’s problem. He was found guilty in 2015 of obtaining watches worth more than$ 300,000 without paying for them. A year later, a similar judgment was made regarding his inability to pay for more than$ 300,000 in jewelry. Additionally, the outcome of that case is uncertain because he was sued in 2022 for allegedly failing to pay for two watches worth more than$ 1 million together.
He claimed that Card’s customer and three other people went to the house on Thursday to dismantle the home theater system and take it back.
” They’re extremely glad they’re getting their stuff back”, Card said. They “were working their butts off trying to make it,” the statement read.” It’s really a huge financial reach for them.”
Erick Passo, 36, sued Kingston and his family over agreement and debt in 2010, judge records show. He claimed the lawsuit had to do with a 2008 music in Brazil that Kingston did not attend, but he later decided to end it because he could never afford legal counsel. He was 19 at the time.
” It was one of the worst times in my life”, Passo said.
Reacting to the announcement of the attack, he said,” sooner or later, the men that do poor to different people, they’re gonna go along. It’s obvious. I’d like to be where I am right now. I would’ve gone farther with lawyers and whatnot”.
A Coral Gables lawyer who had represented Kingston in that petition was unavailable for work on Thursday afternoon and did not respond to a request for comment.
The home owners ‘ property owners ‘ attorney claimed that Kingston’s mother had been sued earlier this month for reportedly failing to pay her mother’s monthly rent on a beachfront home in Fort Lauderdale. The book was$ 25, 000 per month, which Turner stopped paying several weeks prior to the end of the year- longer contract, according to the problem.
The house owners ‘ attorneys, Jeffrey Harrington, stated that they were in the process of submitting the problem and that they may have to try to provide Turner while she is incarcerated.
In 2017, Turner was sued over the failure to pay$ 70, 000 in prices for jewelry purchased from New York. Sean Kingston’s brand was written on the top of the purchase order. On Thursday, the jewelers ‘ attorney did not respond to messages or emails.
By overdue Thursday evening, specialists, Card and his customers had entered the palace, and the environment had quieted. Two U- Haul vehicles had been parked in the driveway, apparently to hold goods confiscated from within, Card said, as well as a Broward Sheriff’s Trailer with its lamps flashing. About an hour after, one of the U-Hauls left.
A dark SUV was removed from the street in the late evening by a tow truck. When deputies began to search a door, one reappeared with a box. Another car appeared to be entering a dark Bentley that was parked in the driveway.
Along the street outside the room’s walls, drivers slowed down to observe the scene. Some people questioned the authorities, while another retrieved their devices to record what was happening. One person played” Beautiful Girls” on their car speakers.
