
As Trump’s legal prosecution was about to come to an end on Tuesday, Donald Trump’s attorney claimed the former US president was the victim of a video star’s blackmail and that the prosecution had not provided evidence that he had lied to her.
In the closing debate, Trump lawyer Todd Blanche claimed Stormy Daniels had been attempting to steal Trump by making threats to reveal her intimate encounter story as he battled a number of ugly stories in the run-up to the 2016 election. He told the 12 jurors who will determine whether Trump, 77, becomes the first US president to be found guilty of a crime that” she was trying to use the 2016 election as leverage to try and get paid” he told them. The judge may start hearing evidence as soon as Wednesday.
His attorneys have said he paid her off to protect his family from guilt, not to raise his plan. Trump is accused of allegedly falsifying business data on 34 matters.
