Officials in Mexico helped rescue a group of workers who had been abandoned by people traffickers in the Rio Grande near Eagle Pass, Texas, during the rescue.
The incident took place on Monday morning in Piedras Negras, Coahuila, a town that is directly north of Eagle Pass. A group of Mexican federal migration university agents from the Beta Group responded to the river in response to a group of migrants who were stranded in the water.
The Mexican liberate workers used ships to transport the refugees to safety on the west side of the river. The team reportedly had been abandoned by a nearby human trafficking organization that was attempting to transport them to the Texas area of the Rio Grande.
The rescue comes just one evening after another immigrant drowned while crossing the river. Officials in that event saw a figure float downstream near Shelby Park. U. S. officials were able to return the figure, which carried no recognition. Additionally, on Sunday, officials on the Texas side discovered a second system of a migrant who appears to have perished from large heat exposure. The dying occurred close to the town of Quemado in a wooded area. That system also has not been identified.
According to law enforcement sources in Coahuila, there are now 12 active human trafficking organizations in the town of Piedras Negras.
