According to a report from USA Today, Major League Baseball ( MLB ) will publish the full statistical history of the Negro League on Wednesday.
The long-awaited decision comes after MLB declares the Negro League a expert” Major League” in 2020. It was only a matter of day after that that before the teams became one in the history books.

” We are glad that the standard chronological record today includes the people of the Negro Leagues”, Commissioner Rob Manfred told , Yahoo Sports. This program aims to give followers of the future access to the stats and milestones of those who contributed to the creation of the Negro Leagues. Their victories on the field may serve as a window into broader understanding of this triumph in British history and the path that led to Jackie Robinson’s 1947 Dodger album.
After the inclusion of just one player from the Negro Leagues, there will be some significant changes to the standard MLB record book. The best player in Negro League history, Josh Gibson, did take Ty Cobb to the plate and set the record-holder for career batting average of 372. Gibson’s .718 hitting proportion will also remove Babe Ruth and his.690 slugging percent. In contrast, Gibson’s 1.177 OPS did best Ruth’s 1.164 lifetime OPS.
” When you hear Josh Gibson’s brand today, it’s not just that he was the greatest player in the Negro Leagues, but one of the greatest of all time. These are n’t just Negro League stats. They’re significant- group sports stats”, said Sean Gibson, the Negro League hero’s great- nephew. This is significant for the Josh Gibson community as well as the 2,300 Negro League players who were denied the opportunity to enjoy ( in MLB)”.

Jackie Robinson made his MLB album with the Brooklyn Dodgers in 1947, the same year Gibson passed away. In 1972, he was affixed to Cooperstown’s Baseball Hall of Fame. Gibson’s training in 1972 came one month after other Negro League superstar Satchel Paige’s training in 1971.
There are 37 athletes enshrined in Cooperstown who all spent the majority of their professional baseball seasons in the Negro Leagues.
