NEW DELHI: A US Air Force pilot sustained injury after ejecting from an F- 35B plane that crashed in Albuquerque, New Mexico, on Tuesday. Around 1:50 p.m., the aeroplane refueled at Kirtland Air Force Base after refueling.
The F- 35B flight, valued at$ 135 million, crashed just west of Albuquerque International Sunport. According to KOB4, the captain, the sole owner, ejected carefully and was transported to the University of New Mexico clinic in stable condition.
When it crashed, the plane was traveling from a Lockheed Martin hospital at Fort Worth, Texas, to Edwards Air Force Base in California. The burned shipwreck of the flight that washed up in a field next to a road can be seen in photos from the accident site.
Air Force authorities confirmed the plane’s secure condition and stated that the crash’s cause is still being investigated. More details will be made available as the research progresses, according to a spokeswoman for Kirtland Air Force Base.
This accident is the next military aircraft accident in recent months in New Mexico. In April, an F- 16 Fighting Falcon, costing about$ 63 million, crashed in a rural area near Holloman Air Force Base. Additionally, the captain of that plane ejected and suffered minor wounds.
The 377th Air Base Wing, which is in charge of radioactive operations, education, and equipping military forces, is housed at Kirtland Air Force Base, which is situated on the southwestern edge of Albuquerque. The Air Force Research Laboratory is also located at the base.
