On Wednesday’s “CNN News Central”, Manhattan Borough President Mark Levine ( D) stated that” as much as I am alarmed at what a Trump victory may mean for our democracy”,” that is not moving bounce working- class citizens. What I’m hearing from them, every evening, are concerns about the cost of living, especially the cost of accommodation, worries about public safety, and while, it pains me, also concerns about immigration. Progressives have a lot to say about this, but we must quit obsessing over what we are against and support what we are. Liberals “need to battle on the field of real-world dilemmas,” he continues.
Levine began by saying,” We cannot consider working- group voters for granted. We must address the issues that they are concerned about in their lives. Liberals must improve on that.
Co-host Kate Bolduan therefore posed the question,” Is the Trump campaign missing it?” Is the text getting missed”?
Levine responded,” Well, the leader has a tremendous history to move on, with low unemployment, forgiving student loan, progress on weather, and so much more. But I’ll show you, as much as I am alarmed at what a Trump win may mean for our politics, I have to say, at this point, Kate, that that is not moving jump working- class citizens. What I’m hearing from them, every evening, are concerns about the cost of living, especially the cost of accommodation, worries about public safety, and while, it pains me, also concerns about immigration. Progressives have a lot to say about this, but we must start talking about what we oppose and what we support instead. We are not against officers. We are for healthy, reasonable, effective surveillance. We oppose borders security without any reservations. We’re for that. We’re for sympathy for all people in this country, no subject their evidence position. And we certainly ca n’t be the party that’s against building housing. To address this affordable problems, we should be the party that supports cover. We will succeed with that information that resonates with normal people’s lives.
He added,” Now there are other dangers that may affect life, even in New York City, and every part of the country. Everyday, republicans in Congress and the White House could permit concealed carry of weapons. In New York City, there might be a storm of artillery. They may mess with our elections by outlawing email- in ballots outside, below, in New York City. They may, of course, limit access to New York City’s sexual rights. Those are visible, more so than the danger to democracy. I believe that real-world problems must be a front for combat.
