
Israel’s top military officer Benny Gantz’s center-right party announced on Thursday that it had submitted a bill to break the parliament and conduct an early election.
” The head of the National Union Party, Pnina Tamano- Shata, has put forth a bill to break the 25th Knesset. The group said in a statement that this is in response to the party’s head minister’s request to proceed in broad deal to an election before October, a year since the murder, and that it is in this request.
The right-wing Likud party of Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu responded that” the breakdown of the unity government is a prize for ( Hamas Gaza head Yahya Sinwar, a surrender to international pressure, and a deadly blow to work to open our hostages.”
The Conservative has recently warned that holding an election earlier do harm the army’s campaign against Hamas in Gaza. An election is not scheduled for the last third of 2026.
Gantz threatened to retire from the military if Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu refused to approve a post-war strategy for the Gaza Strip on May 18.
In a televised address directed at Netanyahu, Gantz said,” The war government must develop and review by June 8 an action strategy that will result to the realization of six strategic goals of national importance. Otherwise, we will be forced to resign from the authorities.”

Defense Minister Yoav Gallant has even criticized Netanyahu for allowing an Israeli occupation of Gaza post-war.
