Thursday, immediately following the Trump guilty verdict, Sen. Ted Cruz ( R- TX ) appeared on Newsmax TV to criticize the court for its handling of the case.
He called it a “grotesque victimization” of the justice system and warned that New York Judge Juan Merchan “diminished the legitimacy of every prosecutor in the country.”
” Well, Greta, I have two identical views, “he said during Thursday’s spread of” On the Record.”” Number one, I’m upset, I’m angry, and variety two, I’m heartbroken. I’m upset because we’re witnessing a hideous abuse of the justice system. It is a tragedy of fairness that has occurred in New York. And I’m devastated because American legislation requires it. We have a justice system that is supposed to guarantee all equitable justice under the law, and you and I have both waged battles throughout our adult lives to justify the rule of law. Today, the New York justice method made itself a worldwide victim. Every fruit nation in the world is aware that this was a political choice. And they are aware of what this was. Political opponents were the target of this as political Democrats attacked. And I got to say, Greta, I held out hope that a 12- people judge, there would be one, one who would hang out and state,’ I will never join in this scam. I’m not going to participate in this social attack. And unfortunately, there was not also one.”
Guest Greta van Susteren asked if devices would have been correct in Merchan’s court.
” I think there really should have been devices in this court, in particular, to see the total abuse of power by this test judge,” Cruz replied”. This trial judge, I think, has diminished the legitimacy of every prosecutor in America. Because, seem, when you go into a court, and God forbid you go into a court as a legal accused, or you go go into the court as a as a legal plaintiff, you expect the judge to be reasonable. You expect the prosecutor to be independent. You anticipate that the prosecutor will uphold the law. This prosecutor was a republican. While he was sat at the chair, he ought to have wore a Trump campaign hat. His decisions were immoral. I got to suggest, those judge guidelines — it was evident he had one aim, and it was to find Donald Trump. Now, that’s never a judge’s work. Removable error is actually guaranteed by it. And I think that the choice will be reversed on appeal. I believe that it is certain that the decision may be overturned on appeal.
However, I believe that after the vote and the whole purpose of this farce prosecutors were the words you read right before you had me on you read Joe Biden’s campaign speech, and they use the phrase” a convicted criminal” to speak to Donald Trump, offer, “he added. Between now and Election Day, Democrats and the corporate media will repeat those phrases to me roughly 1 billion times. That was the whole point is to scream felon, felon, felon, felon. This was not law, but politics.
