Almost 2, 000 troops under state project to watch the international border will be able to live in a new military cover complex on the Mexican border.
Gov. Following the completion of the three-month construction project, Greg Abbott (R-TX ) welcomed 300 National Guard members into the Eagle Pass facility on Friday.
According to Abbott, who spoke at a press event at the location on Friday,” Troops deployed on Operation Lone Star have been dispersed for miles across the area, having to travel miles to operate and miles back where they’re staying later that night.” This basic camp will provide the kind of accommodation and standards of living that improve the quality of life for the men and women in costume, securing our frontier, and give Texas a continuous presence on the southern border, according to the statement from the base station.
Following former president Donald Trump’s recent visit to Eagle Pass in soon February, the Lone Star State made its latest attempt to improve stability along its border in March.
Taus of state soldiers and military deployed to the boundary have been residing in hotels and houses since Abbott started the country’s Operation Lone Star boundary security program in early 2021.  ,
In Eagle Pass, the basic tent is situated on 80 acres of land. It has rooms for 1, 800 men with the ability to home 500 more persons. A 700- seats dining hall, entertainment center, laundry facilities, seminary programs, and medical and mental wellness facilities will also be attainable.
The average length of a soldier’s room is 118 square feet, and there is only one bath for each seven people. For military copper, 75 rooms have specific bathrooms.
The state expects an extra 300 apartments coming available each month through October,  , according to , Texas Maj. Gen. Thomas Suelzer.

Soldiers staying in hotels, according to Suelzer, will be moved into the state housing facility.
” This base camp is also a financially sound way to house soldiers,” said one resident. We will be moving in soldiers who are scattered throughout the region, according to Suelzer. We will spend significant taxpayer money on housing soldiers once this base camp is fully occupied.
