In accordance with international law, Germany said on Friday that Ukraine was use Berlin-provided weapons to defend itself from attacks launched from within Russia’s northern border area around the city of Kharkiv.

” We are simultaneously convinced that Ukraine has the right, guaranteed under international law, to protect itself against these assaults”, the spokesperson said in a statement.

Following days of attention of German Chancellor Olaf Scholz’s administration over whether it had changed its mind regarding allowing Kyiv to attack Russian country with European weapons, the statement was made.
NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg even praised Ukraine for using Western-provided arms against reasonable military targets inside Soviet territory while speaking in Prague on Friday.
European officials have declined to provide specifics on how they would like Ukraine to use Western-provided weapons. They are afraid of using language that could stir up conflicts at a time when Russia is threatening to launch tactical nuclear attacks on Ukraine.
