The Federal Aviation Administration ( FAA ) has approved Amazon to expand its drone delivery program, with the company planning to “immediately” scale up operations.
Before it approves technology that is safely permit drones to travel farther than the visible line of sight, the agency mandates business drone operators to sustain a line of sight for their drones.
Amazon announced that its fresh “detect- and- prevent program” was approved by the federal authorities on Thursday.  ,
According to company representatives,” We’re excited to share that the FAA has granted Prime Air more permissions to run our drones beyond the visible line of sight, enabling us to now provide more customers via drone and successfully expand and scale our device delivery operations.”  ,
” To get this permission, we developed a BVLOS]beyond aesthetic line of sight ] strategy, including an onboard identify- and- prevent technology. We’ve spent years developing, testing, and refining our onboard discover- and- avoid system to ensure our drones you detect and prevent obstacles in the air”, Amazon said.
One of Amazon’s direct aircraft websites is in College Station, Texas, where they provide customers with their purchases in less than an hour with “minimal complexity”, according to David Carbon, vice chairman of Prime Air.  ,
In the agency’s new announcement, officials said,” We’ll soon range our operations in College Station with our latest MK- 27 drone to reach customers in more densely populated areas”.
A drone is seen in a video posted on social media by College Station realtor Laura Cates, which sends it flying into the driveway from high in the air.
