A top aide to President Volodymyr Zelenskiy claimed that Russian forces are attempting to capture as much of Ukraine’s place as possible in an effort to persuade Kyiv’s supporters to agree to a cease-fire before weapons deliveries are made to fill a vital gap.

Podolyak said air power is crucial. He claimed that Kyiv now requires at least 60 Western fighter jets to cover a frontline that was a further 70 kilometers from the 1,200 kilometers before the Kharkiv incursion. Considering the contact line’s length and the intensity of combat, 100 to 120 of these aircraft would be “optimal,” according to Podolyak.
According to the presidential aide, Ukrainian pilots are undergoing final training in jets, adding that if Kyiv is granted everything, the military will regain its independence as it did in late 2022 when it ordered Russian troops to flee Kharkiv and the southern region of Kherson.
Podolyak claimed that in order to use effective defense, Ukraine still needs permission to strike inside Russian territory close to the border.
We must end Russian tactical aviation’s dominance otherwise this defensive conflict will be very difficult because Russia will simply bomb areas close to the battlefield, according to Podolyak.
