
Donald Trump, a Democratic nominee for president, immediately attained a million TikTok supporters on the website on Sunday. Trump had attempted to outlaw the short-lived social media platform on national security grounds when he was leader.
In his second attempt to win the White House, Trump’s decision to join TikTok aims to appeal to younger citizens. Before the November 5 national elections, he will have a close fight with Democratic president Joe Biden.
Trump posted a release video on his profile @realdonaldtrump, on Saturday evening. Trump appears to greet followers at a Newark, New Jersey, Ultimate Fighting Championship match.
Even though Biden has signed a bill to outlaw the game, which is used by 170 million Americans, if ByteDance, its Chinese owner, refuses to sell it, Biden’s strategy is currently active on TikTok.
ByteDance is contesting the law that requires it to promote TikTok by January 1 or face a ban in court. On national security grounds, the White House wants to end Chinese-based rights. TikTok claims that it has taken steps to safeguard user privacy and wo n’t disclose user data to the Chinese government.
Trump’s 2020 attempt to boycott TikTok was blocked by the authorities. He referred to the platform as a threat to national security in March, but he claimed a ban had hurt young people and develop Meta Platforms ‘ Facebook, which he had criticized.
With over 87 million followers on X and over 7 million followers on Truth Social, Trump has a significant social media appearance.
A US appeals court established a quick-track deadline last week to evaluate the constitutional arguments brought against the new rules. Oral claims were scheduled for September by the US Court of Appeals for the district of Columbia. This decision came after TikTok, ByteDance, a group of TikTok information makers, and the justice ministry simultaneously requested a rapid- tracked timeframe earlier this month.
