
One person was killed and 24 people wounded in a , shooting at an outdoors birthday bash in Akron, Ohio, early Sunday morning.
Just a 27-year-old man was identified as the deceased prey. At least  , two of the other patients were in critical condition, the Akron Beacon Journal reported. The other survivors had non-life-threatening injuries.
” This morning, our city is reeling after the devastation of senseless violence” , , Akron Mayor Shammas Malik and Akron Police Chief Brian Harding said in a joint statement. With more than two hundred victims,” the pain and trauma reverberate across all of Akron now as we look for solutions.”
No suspects have been detained or identified in the community, but police said they think it was a “targeted” event and that there was no imminent threat to the public. Authorities have not disclosed the number of people who opened fire.
Noises erupted just after nightfall in , the state’s East Akron location, police said. A large crowd of people had gathered for a birthday party on a road.
” We’re inside, enjoying ourselves, and the , next thing you know, we’re running for our life”, see Joyoux Payne told local CBS affiliate WOIO. ” That quickly. A lot of people out there but there was n’t no crisis, no noise, no battle. Zero. I do n’t know why”.
According to the Beacon Journal, researchers found a gun and some few bullet casings on the field.
We need the support of our neighborhood to do that, Malik and Harding said. We need you to talk up in order to stop more violence and retribution, according to the statement from the group” for those who have knowledge about this tragic capturing.”
Early on Sunday night, there were several shootings in the area, not just in Akron. About 110 miles apart in the eastern Pittsburgh suburb of Penn Hills,  , two people were killed and seven people wounded , in a shooting at a table. No arrests have been made in that killing, according to Copps, who claimed several persons had opened fire on the subject.
