Instead of trying to correct that “bad man” stereotype, Angel Reese is leaning into it. After standing off and applauding Caitlin Clark for a hard foul on Saturday, Angel Reese received a lot of negative attention.
On Monday, Reese spoke to reporters to explain the fallout of Saturday’s game. She even touched on the WNBA’s current state of play and who is to blame for its rise in popularity.
” It all started from the national finals game”, Reese said. ” I’ve been dealing with this for two centuries. Knowing, yeah, bad things have definitely been said about me, but actually, I’ll take that because seem where women’s hockey is. People are talking about women’s basketball ( who ) you would never think would be talking about women’s basketball.
Caitlin Clark’s real sing, according to Angel Reese, is not new to the WNBA.

” The reason why we’re watching women’s sports is not just because of 1 people. It’s because of me, also. I want everyone to understand that”…

” Persons are pulling up to sports. We got stars coming to sports, sold out fields, just because of one individual game. And only look at that. I’ll take that role. I’ll get the bad guy position. And I’ll keep that in mind and continue to be that bad guy for my friends. If I wanna get that, I know I’ll get down in history. In 20 years, I’ll realize that the reason we watch women’s basketball is n’t just because of one person. It’s because of me to. I want y’all to recognize that.”
There’s a degree of truth to what Reese is saying. Around the halfway stage of the year, six different sites have seen record numbers of WNBA games. Although this is primarily due to Caitlin Clark, some games she was n’t a part of did well.
But, when you look at participation, Clark’s impact is felt exceedingly.

Thus, the final conviction? Consider Caitlin Clark aside, and nobody will talk much about a WNBA restoration. Take Angel Reese away, and it would n’t make much of a difference.
