Under Dr. Anthony Fauci’s leadership, national organizations received hundreds of millions in medical royalties for the coronavirus crisis.
Pharmaceutical and health care companies paid more than$ 720 million to the National Institutes of Health ( NIH), according to an investigation conducted by the nonprofit government watchdog Open the Books. The National Institute of Allergies and Infectious Diseases ( NIAID), which Fauci led from 1984 to 2022, received more than$ 690 million, or 97 percent, of the total$ 710 million. According to the organization, the payments to NIAID are on a two-year average that is 175 times higher than the previous decade’s average of less than$ 5 million.
According to Open the Books, “NIH and N]I ] AID knowingly expended countless taxpayer dollars by refusing to disclose what was happening to their tax dollars.” ” That’s because in]each of ] the next two years — 2022 and 2023 — Fauci’s institute collected the equivalent of 175 years in NIAID royalty payments. Nearly$ 690 million in just two years vs.$ 23.9 million over 12 years”.
Recent congressional inquiries have focused on Fauci’s NIH deputies because of their attempts to circumvent federal transparency laws through the Freedom of Information Act ( FOIA ). Next month, NIH Senior Advisor Dr. David Morens laughed off lawmakers ‘ questions related to exchanges referencing a”‘ key’ up route” to talk with Dr. Fauci. New documents suggest Morens badly deleted records, collaborated with state officials to evade accountability requests, and used personal contact for government organization, according to a memo released by the House Select Subcommittee on the Coronavirus pandemic.
Morens said on Capitol Hill,” I was not aware that whatever I deleted, such as texts, was a national record.”
When he testified before politicians on Monday in his first public appearance on Capitol Hill since 2022, Fauci himself denied ever using personal message to run a state.
” I do not do state firm on my personal email”, Fauci said, denying the existence of a “back network” to speak with coworkers.
Additionally, the original NIAID director refuted claims that the coronavirus pandemic earned them important medical royalties.
” I received, I think,$ 122 for a monoclonal antibodies that I made 27 years ago”, Fauci told the House Select Subcommittee on the Ebola Pandemic. Beyond that, Fauci said, he received “zero” of the$ 690 million in profits.
According to Start the Ebooks, the titles of the recipients of nearly 5, 000 royalty payments remain deleted. Before the nonprofit regulator sued to force compliance with transparency requests, almost all the titles were kept secret from the public.
” The exemptions cited under FOIA law justifying the redactions, ( b ) ( 4 ), protect’ from disclosure trade secrets and commercial or financial information that is privileged and confidential,'” Open the Books reported. ” Why the titles of NIH researchers are considered’ personal’ or ‘ trade secrets’ is unexplained”.
Fauci’s futuristic quarantine prescriptions, which were used to end the country’s coronavirus epidemic four years ago, were characterized as dismissive by critics. The former White House physician director called the Great Barrington Declaration, an opened letter by aristocracy scientists opposing lockdowns, “invalid, both theoretically and practically”, and labeled accusations that he suppressed the lab- incident theory of origin “preposterous”.
