Legislators in Louisiana have backed a bill that would require convicted pedophiles and child molesters to go through medical circumcision.
The bill passed with last support from lawmakers on Monday, and Governor Jeff Landry will then take the final action to decide whether or not it becomes law.
ICYMI… The proposed legislation would help judges to sentence medical circumcision, as well as prison time, to someone convicted of aggravated sex crimes– rape, incest, molestation, etc. — against a small under the age of thirteen
Although it is a substantially less invasive procedure, Louisiana previously gives judges the authority to impose chemical castration on these criminal types.
However, a medical expert must be consulted before a criminal should even be a member for the treatment because the new bill provides a few recommendations for the punishment.
The bill, if passed, will only apply to those criminals who have been found guilty after August 1; therefore, the through 2, 000 people who are currently incarcerated for similar crimes are not at risk of being posthumously ordered to go through the process.
A criminal who violates the ordered sterilization could face additional prison time, according to the act, somewhere between 3 and 5 years in prison.
While castration is frequently thought of as a male procedure, Democratic state senator Regina Barrow, who is the bill’s sponsor, claimed that the prospective law could also apply to sexual offenders during a committee meeting in April.
She added…” We are talking about children who are being violated by anyone. That is unforgivable”.
Republican state Sen. Valarie Hodges expressed a comparable attitude, adding…” This is a result. Beyond going to jail and leaving, it’s a stage further.
Bottom line: This legislation is intended to shield kids from those who intend to cause real harm.
