Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene (R-Ga. ) announced on Monday that she may use her position to compel a ballot on President Biden’s impeachment of the southern border this month. This risk comes as the chairman prepares to enact a highly anticipated executive order that would impose restrictions on the U.S.-Mexico boundary.
Greene made a decision to wait until Monday evening when she told investigators that she would try to force a vote on her articles of impeachment that day. She warned, nevertheless, that she may cause the quality after this year.
“ Right here, wealthy solution of impeachment”, Greene told investigators, dangling the content. I have the power to compel a vote this year. But you’re aware of it, I was planning to do it now, but I made the decision to speak with our Republican-elected Speaker of the House, Mike Johnson, and beg him if he will take any action.
Greene said she would force a ballot if Johnson refused to pass the articles of impeachment.
” I’ll just drop them on the floor and then we can vote and see where nobody stands”, she told reporters. ” I’m hungry. I did n’t come off here to hang out with somebody and move’ oh, hey, people.’ I mean, my people at home are hungry. Everyone in this nation is angry. We do n’t want a banana republic — , we want an actual legitimate government. We want a genuine justice system. We do n’t have one right now”.
Greene may call her prosecution resolution on Tuesday, when the executive branch would have two parliamentary time to vote on it. However, it is likely that the chamber will vote on a motion to bring the resolution to committee or to the floor, as was the case last June when Rep. Lauren Boebert (R-Colo. ) forced a vote on her resolution to remove Biden from the cross-border.
If the typical number of daily encounters at ports of entry exceed 2, 500, Greene’s danger came the day before Biden is scheduled to sign an executive order to stop denying hospital calls at the borders.  ,
It’s a strategy that resembles a scheme that was first proposed in policy by a bipartisan team of legislators and then negotiated with the White House. Conservatives immediately sank the costs.
It comes in response to allegations made by some Republicans that Biden should use his executive power to pass tougher borders laws, though it’s not clear whether the action is legal and whether or not it will lead to legal action from emigration right organizations.
The decision comes as the frontier continues to be a hot topic on the campaign trail, with voters claiming it to be one of their major concerns in the run-up to the November elections.
Republicans have criticized Biden for his alleged plans to enact an administrative order, alleging that he is acting for social purposes. Speaker Mike Johnson ( R- La. ) on” Fox News Sunday” called the planned shift” too much too late”.
The GOP struggled to complete a solution similar to an earlier one that was intended to remove Homeland Security Secretary Alejandro Mayorkas, but it ultimately came out as Greene’s.
Biden is accused of violating his oath of office and not upholding immigration rules by the policy.
It’s an argument that has many of the same drawbacks as the papers about Mayorkas ‘ senate.
The decision accuses Biden of failing to maintain operational control over the border, just like Mayorkas did. The Secure Fence Act, a law referenced in the act, established a standard of perfection that no leader or secretary of homeland security had met, requiring adherence to be achieved only when no man or illegal improperly crosses the frontier.
In addition, Greene’s resolution criticizes Biden’s general approach to immigration, alleging that he has violated the Immigration and Nationality Act ( INA ) by failing to detain all immigrants who cross the border.
No president, however, has ever detained all migrants who enter the country because they are unable to do so. Additionally, immigration law experts have previously refuted claims that the Biden administration’s actions violated the INA, finding that the administration’s actions were within the scope of the law.
Greene does, however, claim that Biden has “failed to enact policies and has created an environment of lawlessness to the manifest injury of the people of the United States.”
The resolution states that” President Biden has created a national security crisis and is endangering the lives of everyday Americans”.
If Greene successfully passes her impeachment resolution, it would be the second time this Congress that the House was forced to weigh in on Biden’s impeachment petitions in a hurry.
Boebert ordered a vote on her resolution to remove Biden from office over his handling of the border and immigration laws in the United States. In the end, the House voted to pass a direct vote on the president’s allegations against him by referring the resolution to the Judiciary and Homeland Security committees.
Boebert’s move, however, emerged as a point of contention in the bitter relationship between her and Greene. Greene claimed in the article that the Daily Beast had allegedly copied Biden’s impeachment documents. Boebert approached Greene over those statements amid votes, and at one point, Greene called Boebert a “little b— -” , , according to the report.
Later, Greene confirmed the conversation and stated that The Daily Beast’s story was “impressive” in a statement.
