Officials in Mannheim, Germany, reported on Wednesday that a provincial candidate for the far-right Alternative for Germany party was slashed with a package blade. The incident occurred on Tuesday night, according to authorities, and it did not appear to be politically motivated, four days after an anti-Islam group knife attack in the same town, which raised fears about more crime as a result of Sunday’s election for the European Parliament in Germany.
Tuesday’s assault occurred after Heinrich Koch, running for provincial business in Mannheim, noticed a person” taking down and slashing” AfD advertisements. The gentleman used a box cutter to attack Koch after he confronted him.
Koch was taken to a doctor for stitches, but he is expected to make a complete treatment.
