The U.S. Dietary Guidelines Advisory Committee ( DGAC ) released a “bombshell” report last week, claiming that studies that link obesity to ultra-processed foods ( UPF ) were biased.
Nutritional brands and food comments are influenced by the DGAC findings. 20 nutrition experts tasked with drafting new national nutrition recommendations for 2026 to 2031 are the authors of the joint report The Dietary Guidelines for Americans, which was released by Health and Human Services ( HHS) and the USDA.
I’d think half before asking three-letter authorities for nutritional advice given their track record, especially the public health response to Covid in this region.
There’s No Discussion About’ Ultra- Manufactured’
According to the DGAC report, more research must be done before they can provide conclusive recommendations for processed foods because there is n’t a single, universal definition of “ultra-processed.” A soft drink like Mountain Dew, which is probably one of the least healthy beverages available, is currently in the same group as your flour bread. This, the experts say, provides a less accurate measure of what is or is n’t detrimental to health. They claim that the bread can provide nutritional value by providing some protein ( better off consuming a chicken breast with some avocado ), vitamins ( often one that must be added back in because all the original ingredients have lost their essential nutrients ), and fiber ( often only requiring the consumption of a few grams of bread ).
Processed is processed, after all, and do we really need a long-term labs study to prove that eating this meals, whether it’s a Big Mac or boxed mac and cheese, is unhealthy? I believe that the nearly half of Americans who are clinically obese and the past 50 years of terrible health results provide sufficient evidence. If you think I’m exaggerating, make sure you take a vacation through a major airport maybe this summer.
Besides, perhaps the therefore- called healthiest of bread— come state something like Dave’s Great Seed — contains sugar. Sure, it’s organic, and sure, it’s not corn syrup, but it’s still unnecessary sugar hidden in a food that does n’t need it to make it more addictive — which, if you’ve ever had Dave’s Bread, you know is. Because of this, I must use every mouthful of courage to keep it out of the home.
Cooked food is processed foods, and that is exactly what the three-letter companies do best by using so-called research to try to avoid criticism of it and the companies that gain greatly by keeping persons addicted to it.
” Rely on the Knowledge”
The document is reminiscent of another “scientific results” that seem to defy common sense, like those that help transgenderism. Keep it to the scientists to create something very basic, like fine health, complicated.
One of my favourite food and eating habits rates, written and published by author Michael Pollan, is not written by a physician or other medical professional. ” Have. Not Too Much. Generally Vegetation”. Pollan has some negative things to say about the commercial agricultural and food industries, but he is very accurate in his criticisms.
Although clever people can debate the benefits of plant-based diets over all other macronutrients and delve into the nuances of macronutrients and high-performance diets, Pollan’s straightforward counsel would benefit the majority of Americans greatly in terms of improving their health.
It’s that next collection,” not too much“, where many people struggle and those who produce food in the UPF type thrive. UPF may be considered foods, but it is in no way sustenance, and sustenance in all types is what sustains people growing. Whether that vitality comes from a mother’s love, a stunning piece of art, or food, people need to be fed body, mind, and spirit. When something feeds you but does n’t nourish you, you need more and more of it to feel satisfied. This is dependency, and UPF creates it.
Substance should not be confused with nutrition. We, as a nation, are starving. Nights spent playing cards and board games have been replaced by cultural press. At the music, synthesized knocks have taken the place of guitar chords and chords. What God has given us has been replaced by food grown in labs and pharmaceuticals, which has allowed us to live and cure.
Let the heart’s knowledge of the truth not be confounded by a clinical research. that the true cannot be replaced by anything. True connections. True gentlemen and real people. And, of course, actual food.
