Joe Scarborough, the host of” Morning Joe,” slammed Joe Biden after a report this week citing legislative leaders who claimed the president is showing clear signs of mental decline in private conferences.
Scarborough criticized Republicans on his show and social media after being quoted in a Wall Street Journal article claiming that Biden is” slipping” in various closed-door situations. According to the article, Biden’s reportedly reduced faculties are frequently visible in private, despite many observers often finding signs of Biden’s physical and mental decline in public as well. Popular Democrats, however, wasted no time in criticizing both Democrats and the Journal.
” Biden is much sharper, more academically wondering, and far more intelligent on world affairs than any House GOP presenter I have met over 30 years”, Scarborough wrote on X, previously Online. On Wednesday, Scarborough even made reference to “friends,” who claimed French President Emmanuel Macron was impressed by a past encounter with Biden. ” Companions that I have in that European group, who were portion of those discussions… said that Macron came out like,’ Wow, okay, he’s a bit tougher than we expected.'”
Scarborough even asserted that some individuals feel Biden is” too hard” in these discussions, an effort to bolster the government’s trust in the midst of the Journal monitoring.
After the tale was broadly shared by writers and influential social media commentators, Congressional Democrats leaders also fought back eagerly for the president.
” Many of us spent time with @WSJ to communicate on the record our earliest- hand experiences with @POTUS, where we see his wisdom, experience, strength and proper thinking”, said previous House Speaker Nancy Pelosi on X. ” Instead, the Journal ignored testimony by Democrats, focused on attacks by Republicans and printed a hit piece”.
Senator Patty Murray of Washington argued that the final piece did not include an interview she conducted with the Journal, and that the story was an attack coordinated with the Republican “agenda.”
” I made it clear to the @WSJ regarding the January meeting on Ukraine that the President was completely engaged and that the meeting was organized in a way that brought everyone together,” she said. ” I’m not quoted — I wonder why”.
The Journal’s story ran Tuesday evening under the headline” Behind Closed Doors, Biden Shows Signs of Slipping”. It featured both on-record and anonymous testimony from elected officials and their staff members from both parties, who claimed that Biden appeared mentally lifeless, inanimate, and unaware of important details and details in private meetings.
He “read from notes to make obvious points,” the article said,” and paused for extended periods of time” and “always closed his eyes for so long that some in the room wondered if he had sinned.”
In a separate incident, GOP House Speaker Mike Johnson expressed concern that Biden was confused or forgetful during an in-person meeting.
” When the topic moved to an immigration overhaul, Johnson, the House speaker, offered Biden a list of dozens of executive actions he could undo to improve border security”, the Journal continued. ” Biden, rather than responding to Johnson’s suggestions, chided him, according to people at the meeting,’ I’ve forgotten more about immigration than you’ll ever know.'”
The White House was mentioned in the Biden story in an effort to dispel much of the criticism as partisan or irrelevant. Some Democrats reacted to the Journal’s initial criticism of the report by noting that Biden officials even went as far as saying there was need for damage control.
” The White House kept close tabs on some of The Wall Street Journal’s interviews with Democratic lawmakers”, the article said. Some of those lawmakers spoke to the Journal a second time and once again emphasized Biden’s advantages after several Democrats ‘ offices shared a recording of an interview with the White House or details about what was asked.
Rep. Gregory Meeks, Democrat of New York, was quoted as telling the authors,” They just, you know, said that I should give you a call back”.
