For the time being, Evangeline Lilly is leaving Hollywood on.
The 44-year-old actor announced her temporary retirement on Monday on Instagram after first receiving awards for her Golden Globe nominations for her role as Kate Austen in the sci-fi episode” Lost.” In the article, Lilly reshared more” Lost” images recorded in 2006, wherein she expresses her wish to be a “retired artist” in 10 years ‘ time.
” I am terrified to say this to the rest of the operating earth, but preferably 10 times from today I’d like to be a resigned actress”, she says in the film. ” I would like to have a family, and I’d like to be writing, potentially, ]and ] you know, maybe influencing people’s lives in a more humanitarian way, as almost everybody in the world now knows was my intention before I started the show”.
” As I live out my eyesight now, I am so filled with joy and contentment. Reward God, I feel so grateful for my gifts”, Lilly captioned the Monday article. ” Sometimes, stepping away from what seems like the obvious choice ( wealth and fame ) can feel frightening, but stepping into your dharma replaces the fear with fulfillment. I may return to Hollywood one time, but, for now, this is where I belong”.
The ,” Ant- Guy and the Wasp: Quantumania”  , professional paired the homage picture with a picture of later poet Maya Angelou cautioning people against getting very comfortable in their lives and missing out on “other great things” — “perfectly articulating how I feel about life”, Lilly said.
The artist has actually been on break for the three times since” Quantumania” filming wrapped, she said in a speech to , Variety. This day away from the business has given me a profound sense of fulfillment and joy,” she said.
” I was returning tomorrow, two years from now or never”, she continued,” but at the time I am not deliberately pursuing any work in the industry and am not under any legal obligations to person”.
The artist had planned to leave the market after” Missing” wrapped in 2010, she told , the Hollywood Reporter , in 2018. She had a baby, embraced a quiet life and for two years, she did n’t hear from anyone in Hollywood. Then Peter Jackson called and said he wanted to make her a part of” The Hobbit.”
” I was thus torn because I had really retired, I thought I was done, but I definitely wanted to do the video. I was want,” I get to be a woodland elf,” the 13-year-old woman in me said. What?'” In the end, she caved — and was glad she did.
” I had a great time making that movie”, Lilly said. Being a member of that family and living in New Zealand for the year was one of my life’s shows. That helped opened my eyes to the fact that, OK, this task can be a pleasure. It really depends on how you go about it.
She said,” I just need to bring a very strong line in the sand and say I’m done, or I need to really make my harmony with the point, find a way to be happy and do it in a way that makes me feel comfortable and satisfied,” when she received the call from Marvel shortly after.
Lilly chose the latter, appearing in four World movies, including the first to offer an equal billing to a male and a female superhero, in 2018.
” As somebody who has played largely, I think, very friendly characters, it appealed to me the thought of playing a character that might brush people the wrong way and might be a little bit difficult to swallow”, Lilly told , The Times , in 2015. ” She’s so serious and she does n’t give Scott]Lang ] an inch and she can be really cranky. I liked that. Because I’d never really played a character with that kind of personality, it would be a challenge for me to play it.
Lilly stated to Variety that she has dedicated her time to humanitarian causes and writing in the years since” Quantumania” was released. She declined to provide more information about upcoming projects.
In 2014, she published the prequel to a children’s book series called” The Squickerwonkers”. A third title was released the following year, followed by two main titles in 2018.
