MOSCOW: The Russian defense ministry charged the Ukrainian government with firing five ATACMS rockets at Luhansk, a town in eastern Ukraine, in an invasion that it claimed left 20 people dead, including children.
The government claimed in a speech that four of the five rockets had been shot down by air defense systems, but that one of the rockets had deliberately damaged two private apartment blocks, something it claimed was happening.
Ukraine did not respond to the claim’s verification instantly, and Reuters was unable to provide an explanation.
