Despite high-profile victories by far-right parties in France, Germany, and other countries, moderate groups have maintained control of the EU congress, according to projections from Sunday.
The centre- proper European Women’s Party ( EPP ) came first with 181 out of 720 chairs, followed by its two major partners– the center- left Socialists and Democrats on 135 and the moderate Renew Europe on 82.
The European Republicans and Reformers, which had 71 seats, and the smaller Identity and Republic, which had 62, were two far-right blocs that opposed them.
