Just one reformist of the six candidates approved for the lock presidential election in Iran will be among the establishment hardliners. The incumbent will defeat the nation’s late president, Ebrahim Raisi.
Candidates include legislature’s speaker and past IRGC officer Mohammad Bagher Ghalibaf, ex- atomic negotiator Saeed Jalili, Mayor of Tehran Alireza Zakani, surgeon and former lawmaker Amir- Hossein Ghazizadeh Hashemi, past minister of justice and internal minister Mostafa Pourmohammadi, and reformist legislator Masoud Pezeshkian, according to a statement broadcast on Iranian state TV.
