Homeland Security Investigations agents discovered last quarter that Alejandro Torres reportedly had more than 4 kilograms of cocaine after the investigation was launched. Torres and Undercover agents agreed to pay$ 40,000 for the cocaine when they got in touch with them. On May 9 in East El Paso, Torres and a vehicle later identified as Ricardo Isael Martinez met with undercover officials in the parking lot of a hotel in the 11400 block of Chito Samaniego Drive at 11:50 a.m. Torres reportedly told a salesperson that a second vehicle would provide the methamphetamine to the parking lot a short while later. Court records reveal that the agent was shown four cellophane-wrapped boxes in the trunk of a light BMW 328i driven by Alan Daniel Mendoza Cardiel and that he had identified as heroin.
Law enforcement officers wearing body armor showed up yelling” Stop!” after the representative gave a sign. and” Police”! One car parked in front of the BMW. Court documents indicate that Mendoza disregarded the orders and fled the scene. He was taken into custody after colliding with a vehicle driven by another HSI realtor down the road.
In the interim, Torres and Martinez left in a Nissan Altima after being discovered by a Texas Department of Public Safety soldier. The driver allegedly failed to produce and drove into a neighborhood. On the shoulder of the road, the car reportedly weaved in and out of traffic and passed other cars.
A DPS officer half carried out a PIT movement, which involves crashing or “taping” the rear end of a moving automobile, until the Nissan was disabled, according to records.
A compressed Glock handgun was recovered from the car and Torres and Martinez were taken into custody.
In El Paso, U.S. Magistrate Judge Jose A. Torres has scheduled an arraignment for June 18.
