Testimony told Radio Free Asia that a Myanmar military attack on a meeting of anti-junta protesters in a monastery in northern Myanmar killed 16 individuals, including two priests, and injured 22 individuals.
The most recent violent incident in the northern region of Sagaing, which saw the government overthrow an elected state in 2021, stoking the terrible siege by members of the majority Burma neighborhood in Myanmar’s homeland.
People’s Security Forces, a group of activists opposed to military law, have established a militia called People’s Security Forces that have been fighting for independence for decades in remote border regions.
One witness claimed that the army had been informed that the conference was taking place on Saturday.

RFA was not able to call Women’s Defense Force teams in the region. Sagaing’s coup director, Nyunt Win Aung, did not answer phone calls seeking reply.
Since allied anti-junta fighters went on the offensive late last month, the government can unleash destructive force with its jets in seconds. However, junta troops have been pushed back in many parts of the country since.
With the exception of drones, anti-junta forces have little access to anti-aircraft weaponry in the face of danger.
On June 3, a coup attack on a , ceremony in Sagaing ‘s , Mingin town killed 33 citizens and wounded 64.
RFA has not been able to verify whether the citizens were among the deaths in Let Pan Tan, where several structures, including a subsequent abbey, were damaged, the testimony said.
Military drop for offenders
According to residents, seven of the meeting’s attendees died after from their injuries and nine of them were killed immediately.
It was impossible to identify some of the survivors, another witness, who even declined to be identified, told RFA.  ,  ,
” The systems were seriously damaged and disfigured”, said the testimony, adding that many victims were decapitated. ” A lot of people suffered severe injuries to their arms or legs during the explosion,” said one witness. There is n’t enough medicine for , everyone”.
Early on Sunday, a fleet of coup soldiers raided Allow Pan Tan community and arrested about 10 people, including people, the witness said. RFA was not able to evaluate that information.
From January to May 2024, coup attacks have claimed the lives of 662 civilians and 1,492 others in the nation.
