As winds continued to swell South Florida, causing harmful widespread flooding, a flash flood emergency and flash flood warnings were in effect for pieces of Broward and Miami-Dade districts on Wednesday.
The display storm warning was in effect until 8 p. m. and included Miami Gardens, North Miami Beach, Aventura, Fort Lauderdale, Pembroke Pines, Hollywood and Miramar, among other places, the National Weather Service said.
A unique flash flood emergency was even issued for parts of both counties, immediately until 5: 30 p. m. before it was extended until 8 p. m. Wednesday, and includes areas from Dania Beach down to North Miami and goes from southern areas to northern cities including Miramar, Pembroke Pines, Miami Gardens and Opa- locka.
A portion of southern Miami-Dade, which included Home and Princeton, was also given a severe thunderstorm warning that lasted until 6: 30 p.m.
By 5 p. m. Wednesday, more than 10 inches of rain had fallen in Hollywood, with over 8 cm reported in North Miami Beach, Aventura and Surfside.
South Florida was suffering from common flooding as a result of the heavy rains, which also caused the Broward section of Interstate 95 to be closed.
” Life- disturbing flooding is presently ongoing. Please keep off the motorways and get to higher floor”, the NWS said.
Before they expired, tornado instructions were also briefly in effect for areas over the Florida Everglades on Wednesday.
Some winds showed movement, triggering the storm warnings.
In the first major rain event of the season, Tuesday’s tropical rains resulted in numerous flash flood warnings and 3 to 6 inches of rainfall.
Additionally, South Florida and the Florida Keys are on a flood watch as the conditions are set for sessions of rainfall that could cause more flooding. Breezy west winds of 10 to 20 miles are possible.
The storm watch was extended until Thursday night.

Thunderstorms are expected to continue through Friday, with an additional 2 to 4 inches of rain forecast for the day.
By the weekends, it’s acceptable some locations may see five- time accumulations of 7 to 10 inches.
The place has a tropical moisture shortage, which has led to this wet pattern since the rainy season in South Florida started on May 15.
