
NEW DELHI: India sent a package of 19 kilograms of humanitarian and disaster relief ( HADR) supplies to Papua New Guinea’s Enga state on Thursday, in response to a major disaster that claimed over 2, 000 life. The guidance provided includes foods, temporary shelters, and treatments.
Following the aftermath of the disaster, which was made public last month, India gave a$ 1 million aid to the island island nation and a member of the Forum for India-Pacific Islands Cooperation ( FIPIC ) ( Paruna New Guinea ).

More than 670 people died in the Enga region of northern Papua New Guinea as a result of the landslide, according to CNN, citing estimates from the Chief of Mission for the International Organization for Migration ( IOM) in the country.
As many as 2, 000 people may have been buried in the landslide, with over 150 homes in Yambali village covered in debris, according to the Papua New Guinea National Disaster Centre, according to media reports.
