A judge in charge of the anti-terror case, which involved workers from Imran Khan’s party’s jailed ex-pm group, has accused Pakistan’s knowledge agency ISI of harassing him and his family to obtain desired outcomes. In a text to Lahore High Court Chief Justice Malik Shahzad Ahmad Khan, Muhammad Abbas made the claim.
In connection with the May 9, 2023 crime involving attacks on military deployments in May last year, the judge has been hearing the allegations against opposition leader in congress Omar Ayub and other members of Imran’s PTI group. Ayub claimed last week at a reading that the judge was “hostage” of the intellect organizations.
CJ Ahmad Khan called Punjab IGP Usman Anwar on Thursday and questioned him about the closure of the roads leading to the anti-terrorist court ( Sargodha ), which was located about 200 kilometers from Lahore, because the judge had refused to meet an ISI officer. The IGP replied:” The routes were closed as the prosecutor was facing severe hazards”. The ISI’s reported abuse of the ATC judge reserved the Chief Justice’s judgment.
Six judges from the Islamabad high court contacted the Supreme Judicial Council ( SJC) in March to inquire about the alleged interrogation of intelligence personnel.
