At a joint press conference with US President Joe Biden on Thursday at the G7 summit in Italy, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy claimed that Chinese President Xi Jinping had assured him in a telephone conversation that China may not sell weapons to Russia.
Despite no specifying the time the conversation took place.
Zelenskyy said,” I had a firm conversation with ( the ) leader of China. He stated that he would not give Russia any weapons. We’ll see if he’s ( a ) respectable person he will not, because he gave me ( his ) word”.
Following Zelenskyy’s speech, Biden said,” By the way, China is not supplying arms but the ability to make those arms and the technologies available to do it, so it is in reality helping Russia”.
The Russian leader added that if China and Ukraine shared the same viewpoints on peace, they could engage in dialogue. Nevertheless, if China had a different viewpoint, he suggested they could create a unique “peace formula” to create.
Zelenskyy has been constantly promoting his own vision for harmony in Ukraine, which he refers to as his “peace formula.”
representatives from a number of nations and organizations will gather in Switzerland to explore ways to bring harmony to Ukraine over the weekend.
The only for conversation since Russia’s full-scale invasion of Ukraine took place in April 2023, when Zelenskyy and Xi made the next publicly known phone call.
