David Hosier, a 69- yr- older former convicted of killing a previous partner, was executed by lethal injection on Tuesday evening in Missouri.
He was pronounced deceased at 6: 11 p. m. Central day at Eastern Reception, Diagnostic and Correctional Center in Bonne Terre, about an hour north of St. Louis.
The condition uses the medicine codeine in its deaths.
In a previous speech, Hosier quoted a Bible verse from Timothy, which read in portion:” The day of my exit is at hand. I have fought the good fight, I have finished the contest, I have kept the faith. Lastly, there is laid up for me the crown of justice, which the Lord, the righteous Judge, may offer to me on that Day”.
In another speech from Hosier, provided by his moral assistant, Rev. Jeff Hood, Hosier said,” I’m the luckiest man on earth. I’ve had the opportunity to speak the truth about my sincerity with both new and old friends and in the last several weeks. I’ve been able to learn to be, the fullest version of me … Then, I get to go to god. Do n’t cry for me. Simply wait until your day comes.
Earlier Tuesday, Hosier met with Hood. Their visit ended soon before 11: 15 a. m., according to Karen Pojmann, a spokesperson for the Missouri Department of Corrections.
Hosier’s next meal included a New York band steak, baked potatoes with cheese and sour cream, Texas bread, French apple pie, orange juices and butter, the Missouri Department of Corrections said.
On Tuesday night, fifty-two activists who oppose the execution gathered on the grounds of the prison.
According to Pojmann, the murder was witnessed by six Hosier testimony and eight witnesses connected to the victims.
In 2013, Hosier was sentenced to death for the death of Angela Gilpin, 45. She and her father, Rodney Gilpin, 61, were found dead Sept. 28, 2009, in the doorway of her Jefferson City house tower.
Before Angela Gilpin ended up reconciling with her father, they had been in a marriage.
In a 19- page , mercy complaint, Hosier’s legitimate team argued his life may be spared because he suffered a life- changing trauma as a teen when his father was killed in the line of duty as a police officer. They even noted that Hosier had a record of public support, including serving in the U. S. Navy, and had been , hospitalized for a soul problem , in May.
Gov. On Monday, Mike Parson denied leniency.
” Ms. Angela Gilpin’s life was taken by David Hosier because he could n’t bear to see her end their romantic relationship,” she said. He displays no shame for his foolish murder”, the chancellor said in a statement.
