Greece on Monday denied a fresh report that claimed its coast guard was cruelly preventing migrants from crossing Greek shores. It also claimed that the process had resulted in lots of fatalities.
In 15 situations off Greece’s northeast Aegean Sea territories between 2020 and 2023, according to a BBC report, it has been discovered that 43 workers drowned, nine of whom were thrown into the water. It cited discussions with witnesses, following reviews from media, charities and the Greek coastline guard. Pavlos Marinakis, a spokeswoman for the Greek government, insisted that there was no proof to back up the claims. When asked about the states, he responded,” Our understanding is that what is reported is not proven.”
Migrant right organizations and human rights organizations have repeatedly accused Greece’s beach guard and officers of illegally relocating migrants to Turkey lakes in order to stop them from seeking asylum. Greece has furiously refuted that assertion.
A Congolese man claimed that he and two other workers were picked up by masked men, including police, shortly after making their way to Samos, according to a new BBC statement. The person claimed that the other two people drowned as a result of the fact that all three were placed in a coast guard ship and thrown into the sea. A Palestinian man who claimed to be a member of a party that the Greek coast guard picked up at sea off Rhodes was also quoted in the report. He claimed that several of the victims had already died in Turkey waters after being placed in life rafts.
