The surgeon general of the United States called on Monday to encompass health cautions for younger people on social media platforms.
In an op-ed published in The New York Times, Vivek H. Murthy wrote that “it is time for a doctor president’s warning label to be posted on social media platforms, stating that social media is associated with significant psychological wellbeing harms for children.”
An expert on social media use and its potential effects on young users was issued by Murthy’s office next year. He called on social media companies at the time to put security and protection before price in their product designs and enforce minimum age requirements.
