University of Oklahoma discriminates against white students: federal lawsuit

reportedly told a white woman student that if she were dark, she did receive more financial aid.

According to a pending federal lawsuit, the University of Oklahoma deleted some variety data to “obscure the degree to which it has engaged in race-based decision-making.”

Additionally, it appears that more websites were deleted after the lawsuit was filed, according to a critique from The College Fix.

” It is therefore difficult to determine the entire amount of the University’s competition- based applications”, the lawsuit says.

The public school in Norman is accused of violating Title VI and the 14th Amendment of the Civil Rights Act of 1964 by providing some economic aid based on race.

The University of Oklahoma determines how much financial aid it offers to students based on their race, according to the complaint. ” That is unlawful”.

The school offers a wide range of race-based software, according to the lawsuit.

These programs include the” McLaurin &amp, Lewis Leadership Conference”, which is a” college preview program for African American students”,” Welcome Black Weekend”, an orientation event for black students, and” Black Excellence Ceremony”, a segregated graduation event.

The college’s websites, which were cited in the petition, no longer exist, despite The College Fix‘s ability to confirm that these things do.

No one at the school responded to comments made.

The Fix contacted the school’s media relations department three times in the past year and a half, asking for opinion. On June 10, The Fix even reached the named plaintiffs in the complaint.

The defendants, three light kids, filed the lawsuit on May 15. At least one of the chapters was also active at the time, according to the Wayback Machine, an online library. The library did not find the second page because the university had previously deleted the other two.

Pete Patterson, the plaintiffs ‘ attorney, declined to comment on this account. Kate Hardiman, a past College Fix writer, is a co-counsel on the list.

According to the lawsuit, the school had a website about “increas]ing ] African American scholar… picture on campus”. The website no longer exists. The Fix may discover nothing similar to the word anywhere else on the school’s website.

According to the lawsuit, the school intentionally engages in it. The University of Oklahoma has just deleted numerous pages with information about its richness and race-based plans in an effort to conceal the degree to which it has engaged in race-based decision-making.

According to the lawsuit, an admissions official informed one of the plaintiffs, Kayla Savage, that “financial aid was frequently unavailable to students like, but would have been if she were American American,”

All three plaintiffs identified themselves as” pale and non- Spanish” on their school programs. Brayden Johnson is in an accelerated master’s degree program. Logan Rhines is a rookie.

According to the lawsuit, “universities that discriminate on the basis of race when awarding financial aid violate the same identical safety principles that apply in the admissions environment and abroad.”

There is quantitative data, the lawyers argue, to more up up their problem.

According to a quantitative analysis of publicly available information, the University of Oklahoma takes race into account when awarding financial assistance to its students, the complaint claims.

According to the examination of UO’s financial help, “black students receive more administrative grant aid from the University of Oklahoma than another students, even when the University of Oklahoma is controlling for factors like family income””.
