
The Riverside County Sheriff’s Office called 911 after his girlfriend complained of her weakness and thirst while hiking in the Southern California plain of the United States. According to a report from FOX News, the pair were huddled together in a dry creek bed in the Painted Canyon place on June 9 after being discovered by a plane.
The plane is seen in a video posted on Instagram by the Riverside County Sheriff’s Aviation Unit, with the person trying to shield his sweetheart from the sun as he hovers above the couple lying on the ground. ” Because of her intense condition, an medical helicopter was dispatched to Rescue 9’s getting area to travel the individual to a hospital”, the ministry stated. The man was taken by ambulance to a nearby doctor.
The Sheriff’s Office used the rescue to provide a warning about the consequences of walking in the desert.
Cpl Pilot Andy Rasmussen from the Aviation team commented on the situation, saying,” People do n’t pack enough water. They do n’t bring enough supplies with them. They end up getting 5 or 6 miles into a hike and ca n’t get back”.
He even noted the extreme temperatures in the area, stating,” It’s in the triple digits today. Yesterday, I believe we got to about 112 degrees ( Fahrenheit ). From this point on throughout the summer, it will be that way. Cpl. Rasmussen warned,” If you’re out walking, and you start to feel yearning, you start to feel frustrated, in possibly 10 minutes you can be in a terrible condition”.
According to the National Weather Service, the southern desert is one of the hottest regions in California, with weather stations close to the Painted Canyon area reporting highs ranging from 100 to 105 degrees Fahrenheit ( 37.8 to 400.6 degrees Celsius ) on June 9.
