More evidence points to a Palestinian state being a bad idea, despite the Trump presidency and the rest of the world still propagating it. The Arab Center for Policy andSurvey Research ( Rs ) just surveyed 1, 570 Arab adults, 760 of which were encounter- to- face interviews of West Bank residents and 750 were encounter- to- face Gaza residents. The survey’s findings suggest that Israeli world is full of extremist beliefs that conflict with Israel. The survey finds that in some cases, West Bank Palestinians harbor even more extreme opinions than their Gazan counterparts. As the most recent polling from this survey ( from May or June 2024 ) indicates:

Hamas is supported by Palestinians in the West Bank.

    • 46 % of Gazan Palestinians and 71 % of Palestinians in the West Bank said they preferred Hamas ‘ control of the Gaza Strip.

    • 64 percent of Gazan Palestinians and 82 percent of Palestinians in the West Bank had positive opinions of Hamas.

    • Yahya Sinwar, the arch-terrorist responsible for the October 7 attack against Israel, was viewed favorably by 76 % of Palestinians in the West Bank and 50 % of Palestinians in Gaza. ( PA President Mahmoud Abbas received 8 and 14 percent favorability scores, respectively, while Fatah, who presumably the Biden administration and the West want Israel to reach a deal with, received only 25 % favorability in the West Bank and 23 % in the Gaza Strip. )

    • 41 percent of West Bank Palestinians stated they support Hamas, compared with only 17 percentage for Fatah.

    • In a fictional three- way election, 47 percent of West Bank Palestinians may vote for imprisoned arch- criminal Marwan Barghouti, 23 percent had vote for Hamas leader Ismail Haniyeh, and just 2 percent may vote for PA President Abbas. In a two-way hypothetical race, Haniyeh would receive 46 % of the vote, with Abbas receiving 5 %.

Just 46 percent of Gazan Palestinians believe that Hamas will command Gaza after the battle, compared to 60 to 72 percent of Palestinians in the West Bank.

    • When asked who did win the war, 79 percent of West Bank Palestinians, compared with 48 percent of Gazan Palestinians, said Hamas.

    West Bank Palestinians support crime.

    • When asked the best means for achieving Palestinian goals in ending the “occupation” and building an independent state, armed struggle ( 52 percent ) far outpaced negotiations ( 26 percent ) and peaceful popular protest ( 14 percent ) among West Bank Palestinians.

    • When asked if Hamas ‘ decision to launch its October 7thattack was correct or incorrect, 73 percent of West Bank Palestinians ( compared with 57 percent of Gazan Palestinians ) said that it was correct.

    • Sixty-two percentage of Palestinians in the West Bank support an armed revolution to end the political deadlock.

Palestinians in the West Bank support mild regional political forces, no jihadi ones.

    • When asked about several actors ‘ role in the war, Yemen received the highest favorability ranking among West Bank Palestinians ( at 86 percent ), followed by Hezbollah ( 57 percent ), Qatar ( 51 percent ) and Iran ( 43 percent ). Jordan received a meagre score, while Egypt received only 5 % preference, and countries with peace agreements with Israel received mediocre scores.

    • Despite the possibility that this would lead to a Palestinian state, about 75 % of Palestinians surveyed ( West Bank and Gazan populations combined ).

According to the PSR research, any Arab state that emerges in the West Bank will probably have a restive Hamas- and violence-supporting people. This contradicts the cliched notion that the Arab-Israeli conflict may be resolved by creating a Palestinian state. Only the deepening and widening of the Abraham Accords can lead to real and lasting improvement in Arab-Israeli relationships.
