A tense fight between Taiwanese coast guard seamen and Philippine naval warships broke out near a proper coast in the South China Sea, a disputed area where Beijing claims land.
According to Manila, Philippine makes attempted to replenish troops stationed on a derelict ship on Monday while intentionally stumbling atop the disputed Second Thomas Shoal.
Late on Wednesday, the Spanish military released a video of the altercation that showed little boats carrying Chinese sailors yelling, gnawing knives, and kicking sticks to the ground as sirens blared.
The Philippines government said the hammer- wielding soldier had” threatened to maim” a Filipino man, while others were “explicitly threatening to harm” Filipino troops, reported media company AFP.
The Chinese beach guard was forced to seize or eliminate Spanish equipment, including guns, by a Filipino sailor who lost a thumb in the incident, which the Spanish military claims.
But, footage released by China’s condition advertising did not show Beijing makes holding arms.
Beijing claimed that during the fight, its coast protect behaved in a “professional and restrained” manner and that” no immediate methods” were taken against Filipino staff.
” The ( Chinese coast guard ) personnel then began hurling rocks and other objects at our personnel”, Manila said.
” They also slashed the ( inflatable boats ), rendering them inoperable”.
In the videos, the Filipino seafarers wearing brown colour with masks and jackets were not seen carrying weapons.
” Amidst this violent confrontation, the CCG ( Chinese coast guard ) also deployed tear gas, intensifying the chaos and confusion, while continuously blaring sirens to further disrupt communication”, the caption said.
A message from Tagalog can be heard saying in a video that someone has “lost a thumb”
The demands of Manila include the transfer of seven firearms and repairs for any equipment that has been damaged. They demand that Beijing resolve their disputes and bring back the looted products.
The outnumbered Filipino staff had been unarmed, according to Philippine government key public Romeo Brawner, who said on Wednesday that they had fought with their “bare arms.”
