Eight people were hurt and two killed in a shooting at a southern Arkansas grocery shop on Friday, according to authorities. The Mad Butcher food store in Fordyce was the location of the shooting. After being shot by police, the sniper suffered serious injuries. One law enforcement officer was among those who were shot, but he did not suffer any potentially fatal accidents.
Fordyce is a city of about 3, 200 people located 65 miles ( 104 kilometers ) south of Little Rock. At least one man was seen lying in the parking lot in a video posted on social media, and in another picture three gunshots could be audible.
Many local and state agencies responded to the scene, according to footage from TV reporters, and at least one medical helicopter landed close by.
Arkansas Gov. Sarah Huckabee Sanders claimed she had been informed about the killing.
On the social media platform X, Sanders wrote,” I am proud to legislation enforcement and first responders for their fast and noble action to protect life.” ” I’m praying for the patients and everyone who has been affected by this,” said the victim.
When David Rodriguez, 58, heard what he thought were lights from a local company’s walk, he stopped at his local petrol station in Fordyce to pack up his vehicle. ” We heard a dozen small pops”, he said.
He then observed one man lying on the ground in the parking lot and a crowd of people running from the Mad Butcher grocery business into the parking lot. Before the gunshots started to erupt, he began recording video with his cellphone.
He claimed that the officers started arriving, followed by extensive gunshots and ambulance pull-ups. ” The guns were only flying”.
