A Latina House Republican is proposing two immigration payments that would significantly impose penalties on employers who hire people who are not eligible to work.
Rep. Anna Paulina Luna (R-FL ) will introduce two bills on Friday, one of which she claims is intended to stop migrant children from being deported into the country under the pretense of being a family. The other bill may also serve as a cover for the child’s placement in forced labor in the United States.
According to Luna,” There is an unnerving smuggling ring in our country, where kids are being sold for sex and low labor after being brought into our land by wolves claiming to get their home family,” Luna said in a speech to the Washington Examiner.
This management is doing nothing about it, Luna said, noting that “tens of thousands of children are going missing and being exploited.”
According to a 2023 New York Times inspection, which discovered the Biden administration had lost track of 85, 000 alone minors released to partners in the United States,” We have businesses that are making them brush the surfaces of farms and fill up grain sacks at sweatshops.”
The Family Reunification Act, the first piece of legislation, would involve all individuals detained at the U.S. Mexico border to have quick DNA testing to verify that the child and the family are related. This type of speedy DNA testing was done during the Trump administration, but President Joe Biden halted the measure early on in his administration.
The Washington Examiner reported in 2019 that 30 % of organizations suspected of posing as fake families were found to be unrelated by DNA testing.
As federal investigators investigate the origins of the child being smuggled, the child would be separated from the adult if it were determined that the two were not related.
The Illegal Labor Accountability Act, the second bill, would triple the penalties for employers that employ illegal immigrants, particularly children who are forced to work and are trafficked into the country.
” Under the Biden administration, almost 2.5 million people have crossed our borders illegally”, Luna said. ” We have greedy companies unlawfully hiring illegals, both adults and children, for cheap labor instead of hiring Americans. They are not only being held accountable for exploiting these immigrants, but they are also. We must put an end to this.
