What makes freelance job so common right now?
Corporations continue to face a continual talent shortage despite the uncertainty of the economy and the reshuffle of many professionals ‘ work priorities. According to recent Upwork information, 64 million Americans worked independently during the year that their voting times of October 24, 2023, and November 9, 2023 were in effect. That represents 39 % of the U. S. labor, an all- time great.
When asked their reasons for blogging, respondents generally cited,” to have freedom in my routine”,” to be in control of my own economic future”, and” to work from the location of my choosing”. Of consultants, 60 % work electronically, compared to 32 % of the non- independent professionals polled.
” In 2024, emerging technologies like conceptual AI are having a big impact on the skills- based economy”, wrote Kelly Monahan, managing chairman of the Upwork Research Institute, in the 2024 statement on in- demand skills. ” Of course, business demand for these kinds of skills is growing, but we’re also seeing a complementary impact, whereby AI technology is increasing demand for all different types of work in our marketplace.”
Methodology of the Upwork survey
Skills data was sourced from the Upwork database and is based on U. S. freelancer earnings from January 1, 2023 to December 31, 2023, Upwork said. Each skill performed at least 250 projects that were completed actively during the time. Comparing freelancer earnings in the same period in 2022 to those in the same period in the same period in the same period, an annual growth rate was calculated.
