
London: The opposition Labour Party of the UK on Monday criticized the ruling Conservatives for “over-promised and underdelivering” on relations with India and for declaring that it is “ready to go” with the signing of a free trade agreement (FTA ) if it wins the July 4 general election. The party’s shadow foreign secretary, David Lammy, addressed the India Global Forum ( IGF), explaining that the FTA is” a floor not a ceiling” of the partnership he aspires to have with his “friend” foreign affairs minister S Jaishankar.
