A group of staff and customers on a posh sailboat called the Persefoni I were detained after reportedly stoking a devastating fire on Hydra, Greece.
The incident occurred on Friday night, just weeks after Jeff Bezos, his wife Lauren Sanchez, and his brother Preston had celebrated Father’s Day on the beach, which is known to be one of Bezos ‘ desired destinations, according to a statement from New York Post.
Despite the US Embassy and Consulate in Greece eviding a Healthy Disaster Alert earlier that day and warning the people about the great danger of fire in the area, the team members, according to local reports, had set off fireworks to please the passengers onboard. Over 70 acre of beach forest were destroyed by the incident.
When the accused docked Saturday near Athens, they were detained. They have denied any involvement in the event. Offenders in Greece face up to 20 years in prison and a sizable fine of more than$ 200,000 in penalties for breaking the law and the law.
Famous for its ability to inspire a variety of artists and musicians, including Leonard Cohen and Picasso, Hydra Island has long been a popular vacation spot for artists.
