Since late last year, the issue of U.S. support to Afghanistan that goes to supporting the Taliban’s harsh condition has been rife. Some of the support money was being used by the Taliban to account terrorist operations in the area, according to reports.

Rep. Tim Burchett (R-Tenn ) argued that” there should be strict measures in place to stop any nation that receives foreign aid from the United States from retaliating and giving money to terrorists.” It is our responsibility to stop the Taliban from intercepting a lot of the arms and tools it should not have, according to the Taliban.
Burchett introduced the” No Tax Dollars for the Taliban” Act in December.
A Special Inspector General for Afghanistan Reconstruction report from March revealed that the Afghan central bank, which was under Taliban control, received$ 2.9 billion in UN aid in the country. The Taliban, according to the UN, is under the control of the country and its main bank, making it impossible for them to assist.
” It is unacceptable for any U. S. funding to benefit the Taliban”, Rep. Michael McCaul ( R- Texas ), chairman of the House Foreign Affairs Committee said in a statement.
According to McCaul,” The Trump administration must immediately take action to stop American taxpayer dollars from going to the Taliban.” He applauded the efforts of the Special Inspector General for Afghanistan Reconstruction ( SIGAR ), who brought the issue before Congress.
In an interview on Tuesday, Burchett said,” Any wealth would just go to the Taliban. That’s really vulgar.” We do not need to be funding our enemies because we have a$ 35 trillion debt.

” If this was an oversight of them, funding our enemies, that just tells you they have zero management and zero quality control at all, they do n’t know what’s going on”, Burchett said. ” They evidently – anyone knows what’s going on, and those individuals need to be out”.
According to a report from the Special Inspector General for Afghanistan Reconstruction ( SIGAR ), released in May, the United States has provided more than$ 2.8 billion to address the humanitarian crisis there since the Taliban took control of the country nearly three years ago.
The” No Tax Dollars for the Taliban” Act would, among other things, require the U. S. Secretary of State” to report on countries that have provided the Taliban with assistance, the amount of assistance, and how the Taliban has used that assistance”.
It would also:
- Establish a plan to deter foreign nations from aiding the Taliban and to establish whether those nations should continue to receive U.S. support.  ,
- Demand a report on Afghanistan’s immediate cash assistance programs that includes details about the methods used by the State Department to prevent the Taliban from obtaining cash assistance, as well as the names of the partners and recipients of the program.  ,
- Require a report on the Afghan Fund that includes a list of Taliban employees employed by Da Afghanistan Bank ( Afghanistan’s central bank ), a description of the influence the Taliban have on the bank and the Board of Trustees, and what controls are in place to prevent the Taliban from receiving money from the Afghan Fund.  ,

Under Secretary Antony Blinken, the State Department has no disclosed where the money is going. If passed, this act might lighten that money and, in some cases, stop the Taliban from using our tax dollars to fund its extremist program.
