Activists say Trump prison regulations, Texas ‘ emigration enforcement pushing migrants to hazard

Immigration protesters in El Paso, Texas ( Border Report )- Immigration activists fear that new restrictions placed by the Biden administration on asylum applicants are causing more deaths for refugees at the border.

Later on Tuesday, near the Texas-New Mexico border, in far west El Paso, three people perished and several others were saved from the Rio Grande. The incidents brought to 102 the number of immigrant casualties since Oct. 1 in the Border Patrol’s El Paso Sector. In contrast, there were only 67 murders by this time next year.

Additionally, the organization claimed to have performed 712 rescue during that period, compared to 278 the previous month. In the entire governmental year 2023, border agents found 149 immigrant fatalities in the area, which includes Far West Texas and New Mexico as well.

Immigrant advocates in El Paso urged the Biden administration to reconsider just enforcement-related policies and for Congress to pass comprehensive immigration reform in response to the most recent tragedy.

We’ve been talking about this since we saw the ( Biden ) executive order and since we saw the application of asylum becoming much harder. According to Border Network for Human Rights official Alan Lizarraga, we’ve been predicting that migrants will travel to safer places in the United States.

The White House announced on June 4 that the majority of refugees who cross the border illegally between entry points would not be permitted to receive prison. He also made it clear that the border would be closed between entry points if everyday average crossings exceeded 2,500 for the week.

DHS: Migrant encounters over 40 % since new prison principles took influence

Immigrant contacts have plummeted 40 percent since the news. However, the majority of refugees who cross between ports of entry are then attempting to avoid being captured. That involves moving the Rio Grande, the rapid-moving ocean of water canals opposite to the boundary wall, and entering deserts.

It is a flawed coverage that continues to put life of helpless people in danger. It’s really unfortunate that more and more people die every day here in El Paso,” Lizarraga said. ” It’s because of these restrictions that limit asylum so much that push them ( the migrants ) to seek other venues, to go to smugglers, take deserts, canals and it puts them in dangerous conditions”.

BNHR users also blasted Texas governor during a rally on Wednesday outside a state tower in El Paso. Greg Abbott’s Operation Lone Star for endangering refugees. Knife line has been installed along the Rio Grande from the New Mexico state series to the Lower Valley’s Ysleta-Zaragoza area of El Paso. Abbott continues to refer to OLS as a success, which has led to the Mexican cartels moving their migrant-smuggling operations somewhere along the border.

Another BNHR people at the demonstration demanded that the Biden administration increase work visa, especially for Mexicans and Central Americans who are not seeking prison but travel across the borders by the hundreds of thousands in search of seasonal work to help their families escape poverty back home.
