SAN DIEGO ( Border Report )— About 1, 100 people have been murdered so far this year in Mexico, with 11 percent of those deaths taking place in the frontier state of Baja California, according to the National System of Public Security.

The numbers, however, quickly compare statistics provided by the Baja California Attorney General’s Office, which says just 10 killings against people have occurred in the position in 2024.

Mara Elena Andrade Ramrez, the attorney general of Baja California, refutes accounts of more erratic violent deeds or local violence against women.

There have been unfortunate instances where we have found sexual systems at crime scenes, but this is frequently linked to illicit activities or due to the people being involved with colleagues who had legal relationships,” she said.” We have n’t seen an increase in violent actions against females.

Andrade Ramrez did acknowledge a rise in the number of people reporting violent deeds.

She said so far this year, authorities have received about 3, 500 calls from people for domestic crime.

Meritxell Calderón Vargas, who runs a human rights group in Tijuana, says the state and the federal government are n’t doing enough to prevent violence against women.

” I see things getting worse”, she said. ” At least before there was some discussion with the government about this problem, but there are no tangible work right now to produce any benefits.”

Additionally, according to Calderón Vargas, there are n’t enough resources to assist and assist women who have been victims of violent crime.

It’s not just about reducing the number of murders committed against women, but rather about attempting to assist, particularly when it comes to immigrant women and sex workers, situations that are frequently ignored and not the subject of investigation.

Also, Calderón Vargas blames a sharp increase in substance dependency among ladies on silence by state and local governments.

” There is also sadness, loss of hope, and respectable employment opportunities for people,” said Calderón Vargas,” Baja California continues to be one of the state with a growing number of substance use among ladies.” There are also a lot of women working at factories, where drug struggling has become a problem, who are becoming addicted to crystal meth.
