HARLINGEN, Texas ( ValleyCentral )— ValleyCentral confirmed that former Cameron County Judge and former Texas Secretary of State Carlos Cascos has died.
Cascos passed ahead on Wednesday evening at Valley Regional Medical Center in Brownsville, according to Justice of the Peace Linda Salazar. She pronounced him dying at 9: 15 p. m.
Judge Salazar claimed a caregiver informed her that his death was caused by cardiac arrest and that he had a history of heart disease. South Padre Island EMS sent in Cascos. According to authorities, he was found unresponsive after he drove into a parked car.
Cascos served as Texas’s secretary of state between 2015 and 2017. Before that, he served as state prosecutor, on the Texas Public Safety Commission, and as a Cameron County director.
Cascos ‘ death was the subject of a statement from Brownsville City Commissioner Pedro Cardenas.
” I’m saddened by the news of Judge Carlos Cascos ‘ passing. He was a strong supporter of Cameron County and the capital of Brownsville.
Judge Richard Cortez for Hidalgo County, Carlos Cascos ‘ moving,” shocks and saddens me.” Carlos embodied common services and faithfully served not only the citizens of Cameron County but also the Rio Grande Valley and the State of Texas when well. He was a former Cameron County judge, past Cameron County director, and former Texas secretary of state. Hidalgo County sends its prayer to Carlos’s home”.
Cascos was 71 years older.
